Alberta Distribution Relief Agency-Aid Society International (ADRA-ASI) was our first NGO supporter. Through ADRA-ASI and their volunteer support, we were able to access a wide variety of humanitarian aid supplies, and we shipped two 8’x 40’ containers of goods to Nyarut, Africa, including clothing, household goods, tools, school supplies and medical supplies. ADRA-ASI also purchased roofing material for construction and this was added to one container.
Universal Aid and Adventist Development Relief Agency were the organizations who facilitated paying the shipping of the containers to Africa.
The Wild Rose Foundation (Alberta Government) donated $25,000 in matching funds towards building materials.
Emmanuel Foundation donated a third container load of inventory which included a state-of-the-art playground. Their volunteers installed the playground at two school sites serving 500 children in Kenya, Africa.
Engineering Ministries International (eMi) will be sending a team of volunteers to Nyarut and Nyangina villages in February 2010 to assess and plan for irrigation and sanitation systems.
In January 2010, Change for Children, well respected and long running Edmonton-based, charitable organization accepted our Save-a-Village Kenya project as one of their Canadian-based partners. This is an honor for our project. Donations will be made to Change for Children, Save-a-Village Project and they will issue tax receipts.
Hundreds of individual donors and retail outlets have contributed to this charity project to date.
